EMMY KASBIT “DISTURBIA” SS’16 COLLECTION

After teasing us majorly, the Unisex Nigerian Brand EMMY KASBIT is finally here with its SS’16 “DISTURBIA” and i must commend how impressed i am by the level of creativity and boundaries been pushed towards the direction of the menswear. According to the designer—the Disturbia collection is meant to be a distraction. It is generally inspired by certain elements of nature that can cause distraction. The collection talks about a world where your outfit is a distraction and the only thing people want to see are the cuts and wavy shape that goes with your movement as you walk. My favourite from this collection just has to be the head to toe camel look, DAMN! now thats perfection… CreditsDesigner: Okoro Emmanuel ( @Emmykasbit, @Theemmykasbit ) Photographer : Tope Adenola (@tope_horpload) Creative Direction: Victor Kwen Akomaye (@mannikwen)Make Up Artist: Uche Enyokw (@sutchay)Models: Joyce Ngozi Chidebe and Chinedu Johnson

10 UNFORGETTABLE MOMENTS FROM THE AMVCA’S

let’s talk, unforgettable moments from the AMVCA’s. Hey Guys! One of Africa’s biggest nights is here again. It’s the long-awaited night where the biggest guns in the Nigerian entertainment industry come out. It’s the AMVCA – The Africa Magic Viewers Choice Awards. At least, it’s one of the few credible and sane award shows in the country, and it’s one worth looking forward to. It’s no news that the AMVCA has set their standards high in the entertainment industry with all the pomp and circumstance it brings, but there’s still room for improvement. I think. Even though the award show is all about the Nigerian movies and all, we can’t help but admit it’s also a big night for fashion. Oh! Remember the after-party too. With all the festivities going on in the Nigerian entertainment hub, we at ekpo.com.ng, as usual, have got you covered. We are just as excited as you are and in the spirit of all this before the big night, we’re taking you back to; OUR TOP 10 UNFORGETABLE MOMENTS FROM THE AMVCA’s 10. DENRELE EDUN SHOW STOPPING RED CARPET OUTFIT. Remember when Denrele Edun shut the red carpet down? Denrele actually shut the red carpet down and this moment deserves to kick-start or be on the list of memorable moments from the AMVCA’S. Well, he’s the fierce OAP right? It’s his style, so he can go. I know for a fact we wouldn’t have known him if not for his overly outlandish style (his really talented though). But WOW! That’s a bold step which only could have been taken by him. This was definitely an absurd one.{STYLED BY TOYIN LAWANI FOR TIANNAH STYLING} 9. OSAS & GBENRO AJIBADE GIVING US MAJOR COUPLE GOALS! clear the way, clear the way! This definitely had to make the list. When newly engaged, Osas and Gbenro gave us that Major Couple Envy!. They just explained to us why less IS ALWAYS MORE. They’re young and definitely killing it and we certainly loved it.Damn!!! Look how good Osas is in that Dress! Gbenro, we envy you baba! But he should try working on those pants next time, just a lil. You’re still cool by the way! 8. GENEVIEVE & OMOTOLA THROWING THE HATERS MAJOR SHADE When Gene and Omotola served the haters feud stories with one major shade. Carriers of that news deserved this one. We all loved this one. To everyone who keeps on saying they have beef, this is for you. 7.  OMOTOLA’S BUZZED ABOUT RED-CARPET APPEARANCE It was the much buzzed about and highly anticipated Omotola’s arrival/appearance. And whoop; She brought it. Although it was too late to catch for live red carpet coverage. This moment even made Tiwa look like a fan. LMAO…. (Iconic invanity & Omotola make a good pair) 6. THE AMVCA’S AFTER PARTY! The AMVCA’s gave us an awards after-party to be envious about! With the photos, everyone would have loved to be there. It looked like one hell of a party. We actually saw the stars getting down. Funke! We got to see another side of Jenifa! #PARTYGOALS 5. ALSO ANOTHER BUZZED ABOUT RED CARPET APPEARANCE BY GENEVIEVE NNAJI Genevieve Wearing Custom JBL ( Jewel By Lisa) It’s another buzzed about red carpet appearance. and memorable moments from the AMVCA’s. But this time, by Omotola’s close counterpart, Genevieve Nnaji, who dons a custom gown from Jewel by Lisa (owned by lisa folawiyo). This got mixed reviews. Well, for me, it was dope. A stylish one at that, and yet again, custom JBL. Despite me being a guy, I wouldn’t say no to that (who says no to Jewel by Lisa?). 4. BECAUSE RITA DOMINIC IS A RED CARPET SLAYER This list wouldn’t have been complete without Aunty Rita D. She’s an absolute stunner and always ahead of the curve. She has always shown us from past times how much of a red carpet- slayer she is. I challenge you to pick the best. Be the judge. 3. WHEN IYANYA GAVE US THAT JAW-DROPPING LOOK Iyanya has always given us things to think about, but we won’t forget when Iyanya gave us that SUAVE look with this well fitted bespoke suit. We can’t deny how suave this guy looks. It’s an Oscar-esque look and for all other moments Iyanya has brought it, we say bring it on! 2. WHEN INI EDO DID THE UNEXPECTED Ini Edo Really ?… Ini Edo has been able to do some stuff in the past and successfully get away with it and anyone batting an eye, but we just can’t let this one get by. Remember when Ini Edo did this? This was beyond god-awful. She swept everyone of their feet. Negatively. Did she think this was some tacky award show? Or we would allow her go scot-free Hey Ini, no try this kind thing next time. It’s either you go hard or stay at home #Shitmen 1.Drumroll….Jim Iyke in David Bowler What else could have topped the list other that the moment Jim Iyke stunned Africa and shut the internet down with his shorts and blazer 2-piece suit from David Bowler? From when we saw Jim Iyke on previous award shows, we knew something was coming. An unprecedented one at that and WHALLA!, this was what we got and well, well, well, we love it. Not the best of ways to appear for a prestigious award show but the best of way to leave everyone’s tongue waging. The Nigerian fashion/social media hub really dragged him but it still landed him on international magazine (not bad for PR) and yeah the reality show came after too. Fast-forward to years later and people are rocking this look So Jimmie boy you really deserve this spot. Thanks For Reading & feel free to drop a comment. what’s one of your unforgettable moments from the AMVCA’S ? PHOTO CREDIT : Bella Naija

THIRST : A COLLABORATIVE FASHION EDITORIAL

When time comes back to see they’ll know I created, they’ll know I fought the drought and crafted only to clear the air and quench the  gap. This shall speak many truths in its simplicity.Endangered by the fear. Isn’t there a story to wear.Whatever the past is, the new ones have come to stand.Numbers cannot come down any more, stand for what you want.Do you think you’ll fail, okay. But try first.Rally around everyone who is ready for the future.I know it will take a while, but patience will transgress the regression.Let hope beacon.Only create what you need to say with your soul.
