OUR FAVORITE LOOKS FROM THE MET GALA 2024: TYLA, WISDOM KAYE AND MORE

Ekpo’s favorite looks from the Met gala 2024

Sometime in early April, the official Met gala page announced the theme for the 2024 MET gala exhibition as “Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion.”

the exhibition is set to examine how much technology can breathe new life into garments too old and fragile to be worn.

While the evening dress code to the gala, is based of the short story “The garden of time” by J.G Ballard

and is a reference for how the stars are supposed to style their outfits on the night.

fast forward to May 6, 2024, and the stairway to the metropolitan museum is set to host the annual fundraising event for the Costume Institute.

the steps to the museum are adorned with beautiful petals and a colorway to match the theme.

at this point, the audience is already expecting and waiting to catch a glimpse of their favorite stars

and see if all we get is a couple of flower dresses and sleeping beauty costumes, or we get to witness some actual creativity on the red carpet.

thankfully, the former isn’t the case (although we did see quite a number of flower dresses)

but at least we were not disappointed.

there are quite a number of talking points, but one that stood out for us is the debut appearance for the irrepressible South African pop star, Tyla

she absolutely killed it with her innovative Balmain look.

we also see the likes of wisdom kaye (the media personality), who is also making his first Met gala appearance

with an unforgettable look in Robert Wun (The house that gave Burna boy some of his most memorable fits of all time)

join us as we look into some of our favorite looks from the night, with the spotlight on our top menswear looks and Black elegance.
