TUNDE ONAKOYA Tunde made global headlines for a memorable feat On April 17, 2024, he decided to embark on breaking the record for the longest chess marathon ever. now crowned as the Nigerian chess master, he kicked off the chess-a-thon at 11:30 EST on Wednesday (the 17th) along with his U.S. counterpart, team member, and fellow National Master, Shawn Martinez. according to an official release by his foundation “chess in slums”, the record attempt requires a team of two players. they aimed at breaking the previous world record of 56 hours, nine minutes, and 37 seconds, which was set by Norwegian duo Hallvard Haug Flatebø and Sjur Ferkingstad in 2018. and they did just that when they surpassed the 57-hour mark at the Grand Times Square in New York. Fela recorded a total of 46 studio albums over the course of a 23 year long solo career. from 1969 to 1992. WIZKID Ayodeji Ibrahim Balogun professionally known as wizkid is currently one of the most influential African artist of all time. Wizkid made it to the Guinness world record back in 2016 for being part of the artists with the first single to reach a billion streams on Spotify. his effort on the record breaking “one dance’ by drake featuring Kyla saw him secure a spot in the Guinness books. check out the official music video below DJ SOUL YIN Nigerian DJ, Asu-Johnson popularly known as DJ soul yin. broke the World Record for the longest Dj set in October 2021. She broke the record by operating her set for 243 hours, 30 minutes, at The Grill by Yanna, Ikoyi, Lagos. that’s over 10 days! the record was previously set by by a fellow Nigerian, DJ Obi when he performed for 230 hours at the Sao Café in Lagos, Nigeria. HILDA BASSEY Last but not least, our recent Guinness world record star, Hilda Bassey. the now famous cook, made national and international buzz with her successful attempt to break the previous record for the longest solo cooking marathon. set at 87 hours and 45 minutes by the Indian chef, Tata London in 2021. although it is yet to be confirmed officially by the Guinness world records themselves but Hilda Bassey currently holds the record for longest solo cooking marathon by anyone, anywhere set at over a 100 hours. running from the 11th of may till the 15th of may 2023.
