The Burna Boy x Jean Paul Gaultier sunglasses Collab has finally been released!
the Collab between the two came as a shock to fans,
when on the 15th of may 2023
the revered French high fashion and luxury brand
Jean Paul Gaultier, (JPG for short)
announced a new collaboration with the African Giant.
Not long after, Burna boy himself confirmed the collaboration with JPG
by putting up a post on Instagram
with a caption asking fans to guess what they think the Collab would look like.
THE RELEASE
The Spaceship Artist is currently on his
Love Damini stadium tour in Europe.
the tour kicked off on the 20th of may in Paris.
there was little to no information disclosed about the
Burna boy sunglasses collaboration with JPG.
till it’s unveiling on the first of June
and it’s subsequent release the very next day.
the glasses are inspired by Jean Paul Gaultier 90’s archive sunglasses.
this unique re-edition sunglasses are served in 3 different styles
and comes in 4 colorways.
the glasses features a sleek design frame
with interesting details around the bridge and hinges.
the shades are available for a steep price range of $450-$590
that’s about N207,000- N271,000.
Considering the fact that this is his first high-fashion collaboration,
these glasses speak well of Burna’s unique sense of style
and fit so well into his current aesthetic.
the artist has really come into his own fashion-wise
so-much-so that earlier this year
he and Tems made history as the first Nigerian stars to
get invited to the Biggest Night in Fashion.
This is definitely just the beginning of Burna’s journey
into the world of fashion, and ultimately
cementing his place as a Nigerian fashion icon.
