The now famous Nigerian chef, Hilda Bassey is the founder of the culinary service and premium restaurant “myfoodbyhilda“. the young multi talented caterer, host, and content creator “Hilda baci” full name “Hilda Effiong Bassey” hails from Akwa Ibom state, Nigeria and has catering roots, as her mother Mrs. Lynda Ndukwe, is the founder and CEO of Calabar pot. a restaurant and catering service in Lagos, Nigeria. what did Hilda do and why is her name on so many lips? here’s everything we know about Hilda Baci and her record breaking feat BACKGROUND The 26 year old “foodprenuer” was born on September 20, 1996. and is a graduate of sociology from Madonna university in anambara state, Nigeria. Hilda’s true passion however, is cooking. inspired by her mother’s culinary techniques Hilda took her cooking on air with a segment on Rave TV’s breakfast show titled “in my kitchen”.  She was also the host of “Dine on A Budget” on Pop Central TV. Hilda has received accolades for her efforts in cooking and acting in 2021, she was crowned the winner of the JollofFaceoff. she also starred in the movie “Dream Chaser.” that was nominated for Best Movie at the African Magic Viewers Choice Awards (AMVCA). Miss bassey also has a history of humanitarian efforts  During the Covid-19 pandemic, she provided over 3,000 meals to less privileged communities She has also trained over 2,500 students in the culinary arts giving prizes and incentives to the best-performing students. THE COOKATHON on the 11th of may 2023 Hilda embarked on a 4-day cooking Marthon to end on the 15th of may. the challenge was an attempt to break the guiness world record for longest solo cooking marathon which was previously set by indian chef Lata Tandon at 87 hours 45 minutes. on Monday afternoon the 15th of may hilda broke the record after she had spent 88 hours cooking non-stop THE SUPPORT The most intriguing part of hilda’s record breaking story is the immense support she has received so far. Fans, well wishers, celebrities, entertainers, and politicians. namely the governor of Lagos state, Babjide sanwo-olu president Muhammadu Buhari and the president elect Bola Ahmed Tinubu. Celebrities like Tiwa savage, Spyro, Banky-W and others visited the venue physically to show their support. other stars, like Wizkid and Burna Boy showed support online for this truly astonishing feat, after surpassing the record, she went on to set and extended record of 100 hours and some minutes, for the longest cooking Marathon by an individual ever. However, The Guinness world record will need to review all the evidence before officially confirming the record. The Guinness world record went on to confirm her achivement, and she was crowned a guiness world record holder for longest cooking marathon (individual), at 93 hours 11 minuets. the record was short lived however as Irish chef Alan fisher went on to break the record with an impressive 119 hr 57 min 16 sec stretch, to snatch the crown from our culinary queen. Alan’s record breaking feat ran from the 28th of September to 3rd October 2023, (only few moths later, that same year).
